The Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) Introductory Sommelier Course and Examination is designed for hospitality professionals with hospitality experience and a minimum of WSET Level 2, who are seeking to deepen their wine knowledge and service skills. This intensive program covers essential topics such as wine theory, deductive tasting methodology, and professional service standards. The course is ideal for individuals working in restaurants, hotels, or the beverage industry who wish to formalize their expertise and pursue sommelier certification. The course spans two days of instruction, culminating in a multiple-choice examination on the second day. The exam consists of 70 questions, with a passing score of 60%. Successful candidates receive the CMS Introductory Sommelier Certificate and lapel pin. Upon receiving a pass grade, candidates become eligible to take the CMS Certified Sommelier Certificate examination on an optional third day.
