CMS Certified Sommelier Certificate

Overview

The Certified Sommelier Certificate is the next step for those who have passed the CMS Introductory Sommelier Course. Designed for professionals working in restaurants, hotels, or wine-focused roles, this examination evaluates candidates on their tasting ability, theoretical knowledge, and practical service competence. The Certified qualification represents an internationally recognised benchmark in the hospitality industry and is a prerequisite for progression to the Advanced Sommelier level.

The one-day examination is structured around three key components: a written theory paper, a blind tasting of two wines, and a practical service exam. A minimum score of 60% is required in each part. Successful candidates are awarded the CMS Certified Sommelier Certificate and the Certified Sommelier lapel pin.
